HAMBURG, Germany (BRAIN)—The Deutschland Tour, Germany's biggest bicycle race, won't take place next year after organizers said controversy over doping made it impossible to raise funds.
"Due to the current developments in professional cycling, we aren't in the position to market and finance the event," said the Deutschland Tour GmbH, which organizes the race, in a statement on its Web site.
No decision has been made on restarting the event in 2010, according to a report on the Web site of German TV channel ZDF.
