Titus Back Up and Running After Fire

Published February 13, 2008

TEMPE, AZ (BRAIN)—Titus Cycles is back up and running today after a small fire at its headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, took out the phones and e-mail yesterday.

According to company chief executive officer Pat Hus, the fire started in the ventilation system from a spark generated during titanium frame production that went into the vents in the production area and ignited particles there.

“The good news is there’s only ceiling damage from firemen that cut a hole in the roof to ventilate,” said Hus. “There’s no inventory damage. In our world, that’s big.”

Hus expected computers, phones and e-mail to be back up and functioning today. “We got everything back up tonight,” said Hus yesterday evening. “We don’t know how much damage was done to the building yet. The insurance folks are coming first thing in the morning. But I’m guessing there’s about $25,000 to $50,000 worth of facility damage.”

Still, he considers to have come out of the ordeal “pretty unscathed.”

Retailers can contact Titus at (480) 894-8452 or at (800) 85-TITUS, or via e-mail at info@titusti.com.
