MILAN, Italy (BRAIN)—A recent analysis of last year’s EICMA Show points to a successful event for both retailers and the public.

CSM International conducted the survey to collect comments and suggestions that might help the organizers prepare for this year’s show.

On a scale of 1 to 10, the public rated the overall show 7.95; the Bikes4Show came in at a 7.59; and Motolive ranked 7.62. EICMA’s Web site, the main source of information for the visitors to show also obtained a very high rating at 7.4.

According to EICMA officials, a rating of just under 8 is remarkably high, especially considering that 95 percent of those interviewed said that they would certainly or almost certainly visit the show again.

Those who expressed doubt about coming back to the show cited problems related to the state of the roads and the absence of some major exhibitors in the bicycle industry.

Of those interviewed, 22 percent were attending EICMA for the first time, while another 22 percent had been to the show more than five times. One out of every three attendees traveled more than 100 kilometers to travel to the show.

Retailers also gave the show high marks with Italian retailers giving a 7.67 ranking and foreign retailers rating the show an 8.05. Of the foreign retailers, 26 percent were visiting the Milan show for the first time, while 12 percent of Italian retailers were first-time attendees.

The 66th edition of EICMA is scheduled from Nov. 4 to Nov. 9, 2008 at Fiera Milano.
