Published December 14, 2007

MONTEREY, CA (BRAIN)—Light & Motion’s chief executive officer Daniel Emerson and director of marketing Jackie Petro recently accepted the Green Business Award from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.

The Green Business Award is given to businesses which voluntarily incorporate pollution prevention practices, implement waste reduction programs, install water conservation and alternative energy solutions in their operations.

As part of the program each business has undergone a series of rigorous audits performed by environmental and conservation experts to ensure that they meet the stringent program criteria.

Light & Motion was the first business in Monterey County to receive this award, and eight additional businesses have been awarded since. They include the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary, Whole Foods Market and others.

In addition, the Waste Reduction Award Program recently named Light & Motion a winner of its WRAP award for the third consecutive year.

The company is utilizing buy back programs for aluminum, recycling paper, plastics and glass, as well as purchasing green conscious office supplies. Incentives are offered to employees to use alternate forms of transportation.

Light & Motion has proven once again that its efforts have made a significant impact on waste reduction. The California Integrated Waste Management Board awards applicants annually based on an extensive survey of the businesses conservation efforts in all areas of waste management.
