Litespeed Archon Wins Eurobike Award

Published October 16, 2007

FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany (BRAIN)–Eurobike awarded Litespeed’s Archon with a Silver Design Award at its annual design competition.

Litespeed achieved the highest standard of any road bike at the show where over 865 exhibitors have gathered to present their 2008 products. The Litespeed Archon was judged by a select panel of German bicycle industry experts and awarded the highest accolade of any racing bike or racing product. The new titanium bike prevailed over competition from some of the industry’s largest, leaving the new Trek Madone in the bronze rankings.

Brad DeVaney, Litespeed’s head of product development added, “The Archon addresses the elite road racers’ demand for the perfect balance of optimal stiffness, low weight, superb handling and an energizing ride. It’s not a bike that can be pigeon holed as a climber’s or sprinter’s bike. Rather, our objective was to develop one bike that could dominate across a stage race’s multiple days and varied profiles. The Archon incorporates technologies born from our new association with NASA/JPL and the work we have been doing on the new 2009 Mars Rover, in which titanium and tubing development have been a key focus.”
