Chariot Distributing Dahon in Canada

Published October 16, 2007

CALGARY, Alberta (BRAIN)—Chariot Carriers has been granted exclusive distribution rights Canada-wide for Dahon, the world's largest manufacturer of folding bicycles and related accessories.

“We are very excited about this new partnership, and we are looking forward to a long term relationship,” said Chariot Carriers president Dan Britton. “The fit between Chariot and Dahon is excellent. We are both category leading businesses who focus on designing and manufacturing innovative and high quality folding products. In addition, we are both committed to providing unique and practical green mobility solutions. And given Chariot’s strong distribution capabilities and our extensive knowledge of the Canadian market, we are confident that we can do an excellent job for Dahon.”

Chariot will begin in 2008 by offering select models from the Dahon line, and will look to expand this in future years according to market interest.

Folding bikes are a growing segment of the bike market worldwide. “There is a great opportunity for Chariot to experience this same growth trend in Canada. We hope to develop and grow the Dahon brand Canada wide by building on our strength as a customer service focused company,” said Ken Gay, Chariot vice president of of sales and marketing.

With 25 years of folding expertise behind Dahon’s 2008 line, these folding bicycles are light enough to carry onto public transportation, yet fold small enough to stash in the trunk of your car. “Part of the appeal of our folding bicycles comes from the public desire to take a more active role in environmental issues with a convenient, non-polluting vehicle for commuting or leisure activities,” said Josh Hon, vice president of Dahon. “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Chariot to promote Dahon folding bicycles in Canada.”

The timing of this announcement coincides with Chariot’s recent move into a new larger manufacturing and distribution facility. This additional space, combined with Chariot’s plan to expand its customer service and sales departments, will help ensure that it continues to provide consistent and reliable service for both Chariot and Dahon alike.
