Published October 16, 2007

BENTONVILLE, AR (BRAIN)—Have you ever heard the urban myth that Wal-Mart doesn’t compete at the high-end? Wal-Mart’s Corsa FC carbon fiber road bike dispels that myth. The bike packs a lot of high spec’—Shimano, Ritchey, ITM and Selle Italia—into one low $1,898 price tag.

The Corsa FC features a full carbon monocoque sloping top-tube compact frame. And according to the Web site, “This bike was assembled by the hands of skilled Italian mechanics to be tuned up and ready to ride right out of the box. We worked directly with the factory in Italy to offer you a premium ride at everyday low prices. Minimal assembly is required for this premium bicycle.”

Three frame sizes accommodate riders from 5’2” to 6’ 2”. The Corsa FC is available for purchase on-line or it can be shipped free to a buyer’s nearest Wal-Mart store for pickup. A $1,376 Corsa AC features similar spec but is built around an Italian aluminum frame with carbon fork and seatstays. An aluminum framed $976 Corsa FA comes with a carbon fork and rounds out the Arkansas retailer’s Italian road line. The full Corsa FC spec can be see here,
