SEATTLE (BRAIN) — Vision is showcasing two new wheelsets for the EF Education-Nippo and Bahrain-Victorious teams at this year's Tour de France: the Metron 45 SL Disc and 60 SL Disc.
The Metron 45 SL Disc (45mm rim width) is designed for mainly hilly and mixed stages, while the Metron 60 SL Disc (60mm) is designed for flat stages.
Vision sought to construct a wheelset emphasizing aerodynamics. At the center are the hubs, which feature the new PRS technology with a 72-tooth engagement that Vision says is smoother and provides a better grip gear angle. The rim's 21mm internal channel in clincher/tubeless ready versions is optimized for 28mm tires. The spokes are aero-bladed, double-butted in stainless steel. The spokes and nipples are made in Italy.
The wheelsets come with a lifetime warranty for the original owner. MSRP for the Metron 45 SL Disc: 2,006 euros ($2,379); the Metron 60 SL Disc: 2,058 euros ($2,440).
