BOZEMAN, Mont. (BRAIN) — Terrene Tires, a new brand launched last year, has announced a new McFly model available in a 2.8-inch width.
The McFly tread design is intended to depart from Terrene's the aggressive tread on Terrene's Chunk model. The McFly features a quicker rolling tread while still offering an aggressive side knob.
"Combine great acceleration and braking with stout predictable side knobs and you have a tire that you can ride fast and hard in and out of turns without expending all your energy moving forward and still brake hard when you need to. To me, McFly is the ability to fly down the trail with confidence," said Terrene tire designer Anders Broste.
Terrene said its aim is to simplify the tire buying process, with two builds available in each model. Light tires have a 120tpi casing, and Tough tires have a 60tpi casing with reinforcements specific to the needs of each model's intended use.
McFly will be available in both light and tough versions in 27.5x2.8 and 29x2.8. The Tough version incorporates a full bead to bead TekShield protection layer and a tougher casing. McFly retails for $80 in either casing. Both versions are tubeless ready with an aramid folding bead, and will be available this July.
