NEW YORK (BRAIN) — Brompton Bicycle has unveiled its New York City Edition bike, designed in collaboration with VESPERTINE NYC, a safety wear brand.
"Inspired by the city that never sleeps, the New York City Edition includes a limited edition bike with a special roll top bag with a reflective design and clothing set to kick start 2017," the company said.
The bike will be limited to 1,500 units. It features reflective Brompton and NYC decals along with lime green details that include anodized cranks and hub, and lime green-accented Ergon grips and saddle. VESPERTINE NYC created the reflective design that is featured on the bike, bag, merino scarf and hat. Each bike also features a USB-rechargeable saddle light and regular Brompton battery/USB set to enhance visibility.
All knitwear accessories launching with the NYC Edition are manufactured in New York and with 100 percent Merino wool and using 3M reflective thread. The hat can be worn underneath a helmet, with reflective detail still visible.
"It's been exciting to work with Brompton on this unique design for their New York City Edition folding bike," said Sarah Canner, founder and designer of VESPERTINE NYC. "Being able to combine functional fashion and safety wear allowed me to inspire, empower, and protect people on their daily adventures in the concrete jungle. New York City is known as a style leader and this partnership will now ensure that urban cycling is as stylish."
"Brompton is thrilled to bring a bike that embodies the excitement of one of the most iconic cities in the world," said Katharine Horsman, the general manager of Brompton Bicycle North America. "Combining elements from VESPERTINE NYC's Haute Réflecture collection allowed us to embrace and combine safety and urban performance, resulting in a bike that will turn heads and look brilliant."
