KONA, Hawaii (BRAIN) — Sugoi introduced its 2016 Racing Systems Tri Speedsuit here before the kick-off of the Ironman World Championship. The company said the RS Tri Speedsuit is its most technologically advanced garment ever.
"Our RS Tri Speedsuit is one of the most aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, and technically advanced tri apparel garments ever created," said Rob Gill, Sugoi's vice president of design. "Utilizing zone construction of key fabrics throughout, this revolutionary speedsuit is engineered for maximum performance and comfort."
The speedsuit was designed and tested in collaboration with top professional triathletes including Matt Lieto and two-time Ironman champion Liz Lyles.
The suit's back panel uses a four-way stretch woven fabric: Dri Rapid with Coldblack treatment. Dri Rapid fabric provides hydro and aerodynamic performance, and allows the suit to dry in only three minutes. The Coldblack not only provides UPF 50 protection, but also reduces the absorption of sunlight and heat build-up.
In addition, Sugoi has introduced the new TRI Lite PRO chamois. "We've changed the shape and topography of our chamois," said Gill. "The TRI Lite PRO's padding has been shifted forward to work alongside the place of the pelvis when it is in the aero position. This allows for better power output and performance."
The TRI Lite PRO Chamois features triple density padding including Poron low-rebound foam under the sit bones, which provides vibration dampening resistance that will not break down after repeated use. The new chamois is said to greatly reduce pressure on the sit bones during riding, while still maintaining a lightweight, low profile and moisture wicking surface.
Additional features include a front chest panel constructed of Power Dri, a warp knit fabric that delivers a smooth supportive fit that won't drape when worn open; Ultra Aero arm sleeves and thigh panels for improved cycling aerodynamics; a fully engineered gripper hem using an infused silicone gripper to create a seamless entry point for maximum comfort, grip and hold; a one-piece construction with full length front zipper for ventilation; engineered fuel pockets with hydrodynamic construction for low drag in the water.
The RS Tri Speedsuit will be available in both Men's and Women's' styles in January and will retail for $250. For more information visit sugoi.com/usa/tri.
