SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Giro has updated its Privateer mountain bike shoe with a new nylon and rubber co-molded outsole and a reinforced toe box.
The Privateer R outsole was modified for durability and improved grip on rocks and roots. The shoe retains a microfiber upper, two straps and a replaceable micro-ratcheting buckle. Other highlights include aggressive lugs for improved traction, toe spike compatibility and a supportive EVA footbed with Aegis anti-microbial treatment.
The Privateer R retails for $150. It's available with a black upper and gum rubber-colored sole, or a "Dark Shadow"-colored upper and "Flame"-colored sole.
