Smith introduces new MTB-specific goggle

Published August 10, 2015

PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — Smith has launched a new mountain bike-specific goggle, the Squad MTB.

"We stripped away all extra vent foam on the top, sides and bottom of the flexible frame, while also adding vent ports across the top of the lens, to allow for maximum airflow and ventilation," the company said.

The goggles use an ultra plush, hypoallergenic Sweat-X F.A.T. 3 layer face foam that is approximately 50 percent more absorbent than standard face foams. The single Carbonic-X cylindrical lens provides maximum clarity, wide field of view, and superior durability, the company said.

Smith said the goggle borrows technology from its military eyewear program to create a flow coating anti-fog treatment on the interior of the lens to reduce moisture build-up on the inside without compromising its exterior durability.

The Squad MTB ships with a multi-layer premium mirrored lens and a clear tint, anti-fog coated bonus lens. Both lenses feature pre-installed posts for tear offs. Available in 12 colorways, including a strap designed by team rider Brandon Semenuk as part of Smith's Inspired DesignCollection where top athletes work directly with Smith's design team to create graphics. The Squad MTB is designed to integrate with Smith bike helmets as well as many full-face helmets on the market.

The new goggles will be available October 2015 at specialty retailers worldwide and smithoptics.com. Additional information is available at smithoptics.com.

MSRP: $60.
