Silca launches new locking Presta pump head

Published July 22, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS (BRAIN) — Silca has released a new locking Presta-valve pump head. The U.S.-made chuck will retail for $110 and was inspired by the Japanese-made chucks used by some pro mechanics.

The Hiro pump head is made of stainless steel, with a compact shape that allows use with disc wheels. The rotating head reduces side loading on valve stems and the elastomer gasket is expected to last for years even in shop use.

The chuck has adjustable gasket preload to compensate for gasket wear or undersized valve stems, while the side lever design allows for easy one-handed use.

Each part is made from 304 and 17-4 stainless steel. The head has a 25-year warranty exclusive of the gasket, which is replaceable in under a minute.

Hiro chucks are distributed through QBP or directly through Silca. For more information, email sales@silca.cc or call (317) 964-0592.
