Light & Motion to introduce updated Urban line of waterproof, US-made commuter lights

MARINA, Calif. (BRAIN) — Light & Motion is launching an updated line of U.S.-made commuter lights, called Urban 2.0, in July.

The Urban 2.0 lights are fully waterproof and available in an array of colors.

"Our challenge was to leverage our in-house engineering and design expertise to make significant improvements to the Urban line, including their all-weather performance. The new Urban can stand up to a deluge and long, wet winters," said Daniel Emerson, CEO of Light & Motion. "At the same time, we wanted to acknowledge the growing number of cyclists who want to personalize their bikes with lights that are as sophisticated in their appearance as their function, and folks love these new colors."

The Urban 2.0's new internal architecture improves cooling, sealing, and LED efficiency, which means more light and longer run times, the company said. The company also said a new variable peened reflector provides better optics.

The Urban 2.0 line includes amber side emitters to provide 180 degrees of visibility.

The lights are tested to be waterproof to a depth of one meter (IP-67 Standard). A single cell Li-ion battery provides a 1.5-hour run time on high, 3 hours on medium, and 6 hours on low. It has a lock-out mode and High/Medium/Low/Pulse settings.

A Micro USB cord is used for recharging.

Its battery gauge indicator is brighter than previous models. It has tool-free mounting for bar or helmet.

The Urban 2.0 line includes four models:

Urban 350 - $69.99 Colors: Obsidian Stout/Blue Moon
Urban 500 - $99.99 Colors: Blue Ribbon/Hopsickle
Urban 650 - $129.99 Colors: Silver Moon/Shock Top
Urban 800: $149.99 Colors: Anchor Steam/Steamroller
Urban 800FC - $179.99 Color: Steelhead
