FSA gets into hydraulic mtb brake market

Published August 23, 2013

WOODINVILLE, WA (BRAIN) — FSA plans to launch its first hydraulic mountain bike brakes at Eurobike next week, in XC Race and Trail versions.

The company said the new brakes feature tool-free stroke and reach adjustments, allowing them to be set up on the fly for a wide range of responsiveness and hand sizes. The brakes also feature front and rear specific hoses to balance braking performance. The flip-flop lever features an integrated asymmetrical reservoir making them compact on the handlebar and easy to bleed.

The brakes have magnesium castings, carbon composite levers, and titanium hardware, and weights of about 300 grams per wheel. The two models will have an MSRP of $369 for a K-Force version and $289 for an Afterburner version and will be available in the first quarter of 2014.
