Published August 20, 2013

SUN PRAIRIE, WI (BRAIN) — Challenge is introducing a new cyclocross tire model in tubular and open tubular formats. The new Chicane tread pattern is optimized for fast course conditions and was developed with top British racer Helen Wyman. Wyman won the European championships on prototype Chicane tires.

The 33 millimeter Chicane is handmade and has a Challenge PPS (Puncture Protection System) belt and a 300 thread per inch SuperPoly casing. Tubular models are constructed with Challenge seamless latex inner tubes with removable valve cores, while the open tubular models include a folding Aramid bead.

The tubular weighs 415 grams and the open tubular weighs 355 grams. They will be available this fall through international distributors. MSRP is $115 for the tubular and $82 for the open tubular.
