MONTEREY, CA (BRAIN) — Enve introduced its first 650b downhill racing rim at the Sea Otter Classic last week. The new rim will start shipping in June separately or as part of wheelsets using DT Swiss or Chris King hubs.
"Downhill racing has evolved to a level of precision where a 1 percent gain in efficiency will be the difference between a World Championship and being off the podium. If bigger wheels go faster every downhill racer will be on them sooner than later. The development and release of our 27.5-inch downhill rim shows you where Enve thinks DH racing is going," said Joe Stanish, Enve's vp of operations and a former pro downhiller.
The Enve DH rim is 31 mm deep, weighs 540 grams, and has a 21mm inner bead-to-bead width, which Enve said makes it the ideal platform for wide downhill tires.
The new rim will retail for $999 per rim or $2,750 for a wheelset.
