W.L. Gore makes best-workplace list

Published November 1, 2013

NEWARK, DE (BRAIN) — W. L. Gore & Associates is the fifth-ranked company on this year’s list of the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces, announced Friday.

The list is compiled by the Great Place to Work Institute, which also produces Fortune magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For.

Gore is the only sports-related company on the multinational list, which is topped by Google. Google also is the top-ranked company to work for on the Fortune list.

The multinational ranking identifies the 25 best multinational companies in terms of workplace culture.

"For more than 50 years, Gore has cultivated a corporate culture that fosters the innovative spirit of individuals and teams," a Gore press release announcing the rankings said. "Associates play an active role in choosing what they work on and defining their career paths. There is no need to operate through chains of command, and decisions are based on knowledge rather than seniority."

Gore CEO Terri Kelly said, “When people work in an environment that empowers them to make a difference, their creativity is unleashed. Ultimately, this leads to the development of innovative products that perform in the most demanding environments ... Our nontraditional culture is more than just a ‘nice to have.’ It fuels our success.”
