OEM powerhouse looks to build its own brand in the U.S.

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) — While the Velo saddle brand is little known among U.S. bike consumers, the Taiwanese company behind the brand is a powerhouse in Asian OEM production, making saddles, grips and handlebar tape for a variety of major brands over the years. Now the company is taking steps to build its own brand in the U.S., in part by sponsoring five elite U.S. racing teams this season.

The teams are the Kenda/Felt and KHS mountain bike teams, and on the road, the Champion System Pro Cycling Team, Start Cycling Team and the Cash Call Mortgage Cycling Team.

"This quality combination of teams will provide excellent exposure for Velo products across cycling disciplines, and serves as a proving ground for the Velo Senso saddles – particularly from the Miles product group, which features slim, lightweight, durable designs available with carbon fiber, titanium or steel rails and in some cases, carbon shells," a company statement read.

Velo saddles are distributed through QBP, KHS Bicycles and Action Bicycle Inc.
