Champion System to outfit Lampre-Merida team

Published January 2, 2013

HONG KONG, China (BRAIN) — Starting at this month's Tour Down Under and for the next three three years, Team Lampre-Merida will be racing in Champion System cycling clothing, the team announced Wednesday. The new kit features Lampre's trademark blue and fuchsia combined with Merida's green.

Giuseppe Saronni, the Italian team's general manager, said he was excited about the deal.

“It is a company full of ideas and its will to improve constantly is the same that characterizes our team,” Saronni said. “The feeling we set with [Champion System CEO Louis] Shih has been immediately good and I would like to thank him for the efforts in setting the whole line of the team. I am sure we will reach common top goals in the future.”

Lampre-Merida is a top-tier UCI ProTeam-registered squad. In addition to supporting that team, Champion has its own second-tier, UCI Pro Continental-registered team, Champion System, which is based in China. The company will hold a ceremony in California January 11 to introduce that team.
