Taichung Bike Week Moves to Earlier Dates

Published February 16, 2011

TAICHUNG, Taiwan (BRAIN)—Taichung Bike Week will be held a week earlier this year beginning on Nov. 29 and running through Dec. 2, organizer Steve Fenton said on Tuesday.

Ride On, a second spec event typically held around the same time in Taichung, will run Nov. 30 through Dec. 3 this year. Ride On will also move from the Freshfields Resort, a remote location about half hour outside of Taichung, into downtown as to ease travel between the two events for product managers, Fenton said.

Although some North American product managers may grumble that the date falls too closely to the Thanksgiving weekend—the holiday is on Thursday, Nov. 24—Fenton said product managers should be able to fly to Taiwan directly after the holiday weekend ends on Sunday and still have plenty of time at the minishows.

Fenton said organizers had been considering dates before the holiday, at the suggestion of some product managers dealing with earlier production schedules, but exhibitors worried they wouldn’t have product ready that early.

Also this year, the industry dinner will be held at the Tempus Hotel instead of the Evergreen ballroom, as that space has been set aside to accommodate additional exhibitors.

Taichung Bike Week is an informal event designed to bring suppliers and product managers together to discuss spec for the following year’s product lines.
