ASHEVILLE, N.C. (BRAIN) — Scott retailers will have the opportunity to sell their new old stock bikes through online marketplace BikeExchange and shipping provider Kitzuma Cycling Logistics.
Bikes older than one model year are eligible to be sold through BikeExchange and shipped in a Kitzuma universal box that can fit road, gravel, mountain, and e-bikes with packing guidelines developed specially for the program. According to BikeExchange/Kitzuma, the box is 62 inches long, 15 inches wide, and 33 inches high and ships within Kitzuma’s maximum oversize dimensions. This partnership standardizes bike shipping protocols across the dealer network, “reducing transit damage and delivering customers a premium unboxing and assembly experience.”
Retailers joining the program receive their standard margin, less the BikeExchange transaction fees. They also receive a four-pack of Kitzuma boxes with additional boxes available for a cost. Retailers also will receive preferred BikeExchange pricing and Kitzuma shipping rates.
"Bringing Scott’s dealers and inventory onto the BikeExchange marketplace is a significant step for us,” said Chris Cosgrove, CEO of BikeExchange and Kitzuma. “Our focus as a company has always been to provide value and solve key problems for brands, dealers, and customers alike, and this partnership checks all three. The box and packing standards are what make it work.”
The program began Friday after being first announced at Scott’s preseason sales meeting last week. A spokesperson for BikeExchange/Kitzuma said several retailers registered over the weekend with more joining Monday. Scott retailers interested in joining, can click here.
