WATERLOO, Wis. (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle's Red Barn Refresh program's e-commerce site is live, offering used road, mountain, electric, and kids bikes in the industry's first trade-in program.
Trek Bicycle Stores and participating Trek retailers accept the return of used Trek bikes in exchange for in-store credit to buy a new bike. Bikes are sent to Trek's "red barn" in Waterloo, where they undergo a 151-point inspection before being resold online as certified pre-owned. The program was announced last month.
Red Barn Refresh bikes come with Trek's limited lifetime guarantee and 30-day unconditional guarantee. Bikes up to 10-years-old and valued at $150 or more — as determined by Bicycle Blue Book — are accepted.
Trek e-bikes less than 2-years-old are accepted. In addition to the standard inspection, e-bikes undergo full system diagnostic testing, including battery assessment and firmware updating.
