NORTHVALE, N.J. (BRAIN) — Prosecutors say a suspect is in custody and a homicide investigation is underway after a body was found at the headquarters office of G. Joannou Cycle Co. Inc., the owner and distributor of the Jamis Bicycles brand.

Jamis announced that employee Jeanette Willem is the victim. The company said Willem, who police said was 43, was "a longtime and most valued member of our family."

"Jamis Bikes is a small and tight-knit group and Jeanette has been a dedicated member of our team for 20 years. We are devastated," the company said.

The company said its offices will be closed until Nov. 1.

"Please respect the privacy of her friends and family at this time as we grieve the loss of a truly special and beloved mother, wife, daughter and friend," the company said.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that the Major Crimes Unit and the Northvale Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred at 151 Ludlow Ave. in Northvale on Wednesday morning.

According to the prosecutor's office, Northvale Police responded to the address around 8:30 a.m. following a report that a body was found. Responding officers searched the building to make sure there was no ongoing threat to the community. A suspect has been taken into custody, and no other individuals are believed to have been involved, they said.

Authorities said additional information will be released later.
