MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Mongoose will re-release the Supergoose and California Special, two historic BMX models, as part of its Classics Collection.
Both replicas will be available beginning Oct. 18 on the Mongoose website and in select countries where Mongoose bikes are sold.
The Supergoose ($549.99) was first released in 1979. The replica Supergoose is designed with the 1984 "loop-tail" frame. The replica will feature a 4130 chromoly frame and alloy-drilled Pro Class rims, Pro Class handlebars, and colors inspired by the original models.
The California Special ($449.99) is a tribute to the brand's original design from 1983. The replica California Special includes a 1983-inspired frame design, with Pro Class wheels.
"Mongoose remade these bikes in the spirit and heritage of the time period they were born, with frames designs, parts and colorways that mirror the look of the 1980s originals," said Brian Baldis, Mongoose director of product development. "It is an honor to pay homage to bike designs that played a big part in the BMX culture and the Mongoose brand decades ago. We are thrilled to share them with generations of Mongoose fans."
The bikes will come packaged in an '80s-inspired white litho-laminated box with classic Mongoose artwork.
