TAIPEI, Taiwan (BRAIN) — Bryton, a Taiwan-based GPS cycle computer brand, has hired industry veteran Thomas Prehn to help build the brand in North America. Prehn will be working with Bryton's current North American team to help with all aspects of marketing, sales, customer service and distribution in the region.
"Bryton is well established in Europe and Asia," said Samuel Wang, the company's CEO. "We just became the No. 1 (GPS cycle computer) brand in Taiwan and are working to gain that position in Europe and North America as well. Prehn will help us with the critical and unique aspects of the U.S. and Canadian markets."
Bryton was launched in 2009. The company said it has claimed market share in Asia and Europe and recently announced its sponsorship of the Belgian World Tour Team Deceuninck Quick-Step.
"I am delighted to be working with Bryton to address the unique challenges of the North American market," Prehn said. "The new Bryton Sport App with its ability to simply and intuitively work, set up, use and upload rides or routes will be a game changer for consumers and retailers."
Bryton plans to introduce two new models into the U.S. market this year: the new entry-level Rider 15 and mountain bike-oriented Rider 450. Later this month, the company will also release a new companion app, called "Active," with more powerful features and added functionality.
Prehn will operate out of Boulder, Colorado, to help expand sales with Bryton's existing U.S. distributors: BTI, KHS and J&B Importers. He can be reached at thomas.prehn@brytonsport.com.
