CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BRAIN) — Bike2020.com, an online marketplace for new, closeout and overstock bikes for pickup at local bike shops, has announced an upgrade of the site that includes an expanded platform for advertising by bike industry brands.
Bike2020 was launched in 2013. Bike shops can use the site to list new discounted bikes to reach their local customers as well as a national audience. Manufacturers and distributors also can list inventory in their warehouses, but all sales are made through the bike shops.
"Bike2020.com is committed to the brick and mortar dealer model," said Marc Katz, the president of Bike2020.com. "Shops pay a nominal subscription fee to join bike2020.com and we do the marketing for them. Bike2020.com does not facilitate any sales or charge any after sale fees. We drive customers to local retailers where all sales are transacted by the shop. The shops not only have the ability to move their bikes but they also enjoy the add-on sales and building direct relationships with customers for future business."
Adding endemic advertising opportunities on the site allows brands or shops to increase their awareness and promote their dealer/customer base, Katz said.
