DMAC wool clothing start-up hits initial crowd-funding goal

Published March 29, 2016

MILL VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — DMAC — a new wool lifestyle clothing brand founded by Dave McLaughlin, a well-known member of the bike racing community — has reached its intial $12,000 startup goal on Kickstarter with about two weeks remaining in the campaign.

McLaughlin is the general manager of the LUNA Pro Team and is a former clothing developer for Schwinn, QBP, American Mojo, and Néve Design.

DMAC's initial $12,000 goal was to launch three men's active wool apparel offerings. Additional funding raised by the end of the Kickstarter campaign on April 4 will support the production of additional pieces in the DMAC line as well as fund development and sample costs for the 2017 season, McLaughlin said.

In addition to DMAC retail sales, McLaughlin is currently offering a logo-wear package for outfitting store staff and teams. For $1,000, customers can choose any 12 DMAC pieces delivered with a custom embroidered logo or as a woven patch.

McLaughlin said DMAC designs are relaxed, versatile styles in boiled wool blends and fine knits, ideal for on and off the bike.

"I love wool. I love its tradition, style and versatility," McLaughlin said. "I'm out there everyday, skiing, riding, running, travelling or going out to dinner with friends, and I wanted to create a range of versatile pieces for that lifestyle."
