Moots ‘Ti Stick’ sale to benefit Charlie Cunningham

Published October 22, 2015

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (BRAIN) — Moots will donate 100 percent of proceeds from sales of its Ti Stick cowbells to mountain bike pioneer Charlie Cunningham, who was injured in a bike accident in August and is hospitalized recovering from brain surgery.

“Learning how to talk and swallow are just a couple of the hurdles he is facing,” Moots stated on its blog. “He needs our help to pay for the mounting medical bills and modifications that will be needed to his home in Marin, Calif.”

Moots donates the proceeds of its Ti Stick sales to a different cause or organization each year. Past recipients include IMBA, Bicycle Colorado and Colorado Flood Relief.

The Ti Sticks are made from titanium drops or scraps that cannot be used to build bikes. They’re 10 inches long and 1 ½ inches in diameter. Moots has sold about half this year’s run of 32 units at $125, en route to raising a total of $4,000 for Cunningham. They can be purchased at the Moots online store.

Meanwhile, the Gofundme.com crowdfunding campaign started on Cunningham’s behalf had raised $68,000 of its $100,000 goal as of Thursday afternoon PT. More than 1,000 donors have contributed. To donate to the campaign, visit the Gofundme page.
