SAN DIEGO (BRAIN) — Selle Anatomica has completely redesigned its saddle line, but realizes outside of true believers in leather saddles, few riders would even give them a try. So the company is offering any of its saddles to bike shop and industry employees for $75. Normally the saddles retail for $159.
"The first series of saddles were literally designed in a garage with seat of the pants engineering," said Ryan Hosmer, Selle Anatomica's design and technology manager.
"The saddle is still 100 percent made in Elkhorn, Wisc., just like they always have been. We hope the pro deal will get people on a made in USA saddle that might never have given it a try," he said.
The company made its name with the lengthy cutout in the saddle top for soft tissue relief, and by using softer leather than its competitors, so there is no need to break in. Its NSX model has a solid top for off-road use.
