Pez plans site redesign

Published April 3, 2013

VANCOUVER, BC (BRAIN) — Road cycling website Pezcyclingnews.com is close to launching a redesigned site, the third major iteration of the 11-year-old site.

Publisher Richard Pestes said the new site will go live in a matter of days or sooner.

"It doesn't look anything like Pez used to look, it's going to be really cool, it's going to be rocking in the free world," Pestes said.

Pez has long had a tradition of using flashy colors and large images. With readers increasingly using larger monitors and enjoying faster connections, the new site is even larger and will enable larger images, Pestes said. The site also will have fewer ads along the sides and will enable larger banner ads under the masthead.

Another objective of the redesign was to enable users to access older articles. Many Pez articles are lifestyle-oriented and are just as relevant now as when they were first posted.

"We have 10,000 stories in our database and a lot of things are not past their due date," he said. "People are trained to just look at what you posted today and not anything else, so one thing we wanted to do was build functionality to (allow users to) sort through stuff right on homepage."
