Brooks Union Jack saddles celebrate Olympiad • Green Guru hosts third annual cruiser ride at OR • San Diego retailer teams with Giant and Spy on race team

SMETHWICK, England (BRAIN) Wednesday July 25 2012 4:06 PM MT—British saddle maker Brooks is launching three saddles with special packaging to celebrate the arrival of the Olympics for the third time in the company's 150-year history.

The Union Jack Swallow Limited Edition 2012 is a tri-color issue of the B15 model, first patented in 1937. Brooks will make 500 each of red, white and blue saddles.

The red and blue models will be delivered in the special “Union Jack” packaging, while the white comes in a special “England” box.


Green Guru hosts third annual cruiser ride at OR

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) Wednesday July 25 2012 4:44 PM MT—Green Guru Gear is hosting its its third annual cruiser ride around downtown Salt Lake City during the Outdoor Retailer show next week.

Green Guru manufacturers products from recycled bike inner tubes donated by bike shops.

The ride will begin with a pre-party at the Green Guru booth (#34) from 3 to 6 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 3. Cruisers will then meet at the Park N Pedal booth at 6:30 p.m., and ride through downtown to Liberty Park, where there will be refreshments, games and giveaways.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own bikes. There will also be a limited number of loaner bikes available for sign-out at the Green Guru booth.

Event sponsors include IMBA, Park N Pedal, Dahon, Electra, Osprey, Petzl, Honey Stinger, Five Ten, Nite Ize, Momentum Magazine, Polar Bottle, Endurance Conspiracy Prana, Planet Bike, Hoodie Buddie and Body Armor.


Giant, Spy, Ride Cyclery form regional team

NEWBURY PARK, CA (BRAIN) Wednesday July 25 2012 4:50 PM MT—Giant, Spy and Ride Cyclery are sponsoring a new road and cyclocross program that includes a Pro category 1-2 team as well as Masters level racers.

The team is a partnership between Giant, the Spy eyewear brand, and Ride Cyclery, a San Diego bicycle retailer.

Giant will supply the teams and its members with bikes and gear, including its flagship road bike, the TCR Advanced SL, and its cyclocross bike, the TCX Advanced SL.

“The timing couldn’t be better for Ride,” said store owner Brent Garrigus, who is also a rider on the team. “We’re preparing to move to a new marquee location on the Pacific Coast Highway, just above Moonlight Beach. The combination of our new team and new location will be a win for the entire Southern California cycling community.”
