Expanded office brings more teams together for better collaboration

February 3, 2026 — Urban mobility specialist Tern Bicycles today announced it has relocated its corporate headquarters to a new office in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

The new office brings together all Taiwan teams that had previously been spread across multiple buildings, floors, and offices into a single shared workspace designed to promote closer communication and collaboration.

“Designing this space from scratch allowed us to be really deliberate with the layout,” said Josh Hon, Team Captain at Tern Bicycles.

“Here, that meant focusing on how people come together, how ideas move, and how problems get worked through. The result is a workspace shaped less by hierarchy or trend, and more by how we feel people collaborate and stay energized day-to-day.”

The workspace comprises the entire 8th floor of a building and will be occupied by 70 Tern Team Members. The open office plan is designed around the Hub, a largeopen space designed to encourage collaboration and chance “water cooler” meetings. Private bean bag rooms and Zoom pods allow for boisterous or private brainstorming sessions as needed. Also included in the workspace are a Photo/Video studio and expanded Innovation Lab.

Location Reflects Company Vision

The move also reflects a preference for an environment that better aligns with Tern’s vision of urban living. The office is located in a new redevelopment zone that prioritizes public transport, pedestrian walkways, bicycle infrastructure, parks, and green areas. The new building holds a government-issued Green Building certification and incorporates on-site solar power generation.

Commuting by bike to the new site is a practical daily option, and it’s being encouraged through Tern’s Bike to Work program. Team members can choose a Tern bike of their choice simply by riding to and from work, earning US$0.50 in credit for every kilometer they ride.

To support daily riding, the new office includes secure, dedicated indoor bicycle parking, shower facilities, and lockers. Riders can arrive by bike, freshen up, and start the workday ready to go.

Tern Remains Global

While the new headquarters brings all Taiwan teams into a shared space, Tern remains a globally connected organization, with its bikes designed in Finland, engineered in Taiwan, and marketed worldwide. The company will continue to operate as a distributed team, with collaboration spanning time zones and regions.
