Join this Nationwide Rider-led Pedal Powered Holiday Movement

(Santa Fe, NM — September 9, 2025) — As the official steward of Cranksgiving, BTI is calling on cycling-industry brands to join forces and support grassroots Cranksgiving events happening across the US this fall. Last year, in celebration of Cranksgiving's 25th anniversary, 25 cycling industry brands stepped up.

What is Cranksgiving?

Cranksgiving is a one-day, holiday-themed ride that blends festive cheer with a charitable mission. Riders take to the streets on bike-powered scavenger hunts, purchasing food at local grocery stores, and delivering it to local food banks and shelters—a uniquely human powered way to give back. The event has been held annually since it was conceived by bicycle messenger Antonio "Tone" Rodrigues in 1999 in New York City, as a charitable alleycat-style race.

Over its two-plus decades of grassroots growth, Cranksgiving has expanded dramatically:

  • Held in over 120 cities annually
  • Delivering over 60,000 meals nationwide each year
  • Held in the fall, peaking in November

Why join this cause?

Cranksgiving offers brands a vibrant community-focused platform to:

  • Earn positive media coverage
  • Build goodwill through tangible charitable action
  • Engage with local cyclists including families, occasional riders, commuters, retailers, and bike clubs
  • With so many new and dormant riders showing up, Cranksgiving gets your brand in front of fresh eyes.
