ATLANTA, Ga. – In response to an increased demand for electronic and environmentally responsible mobility solutions, especially among young people, Blaupunkt and CLC, the trademark licensing division of LEARFIELD – the media and technology company powering college athletics – announce the first officially licensed collegiate electric bicycles available just in time for the holidays.

Blaupunkt is collaborating with CLC, on behalf of its collegiate partner institutions, to offer it's UL-2849 certified FIENE foldable e-bike model complete with select university marks, logos and colors. Participating institutions include Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Vanderbilt, with more to come.

"We are ecstatic that with the help of CLC, Blaupunkt is able to introduce the first ever licensed collegiate e-bike to the market," said Brian Tedesco, President and CEO of BP Technology Americas. "Now some of the most passionate fan bases in collegiate athletics will have a sophisticated, innovative and environmentally friendly way to express their allegiance to their school or team while enjoying our innovative transportation solution."

The Blaupunkt e-bike is a 20-inch folding bike that offers peddle and throttle assist capabilities. Its sleek design features a durable, single die-cast foldable magnesium frame with no unsightly soldering joints. Weighing only 47 pounds, it is ultra-portable and provides a range of up to 44 miles. Bikes will be available beginning in late October at local bike shops near participating universities and online at www.bpamericas.com with a MSRP set at $1,699.

"We are thrilled to help bring the iconic Blaupunkt brand into the college market through this unique university branded e-bike program." said Dave Kirkpatrick, CLC's Senior Vice President of Business Development. "We are proud that Blaupunkt is launching this licensing program with CLC partner institutions and are confident the e-bikes will be a big hit with college fans."
