The Pro’s Closet has entered a multi-year agreement with 99 Spokes, in which 99 Spokes will provide access to the structured data that it maintains for its comparison shopping website, 99spokes.com. TPC plans to use this dataset to improve internal tooling, including optimizing the process around purchasing and listing used bikes from customers.
“Our super power is that we have all the bikes. People can come to the site and do an apples to apple comparison of bikes from different brands, without any of the distractions that come from proprietary terminology, technical verbiage, etc.,” said 99Spokes' Scott Alexander.
“When we connect with industry partners we hear a similar story. Someone tasked with manually collecting data from manufacturer websites and adding it to an Excel spreadsheet. We already have automated systems in place that perform this work every day. Furthermore, we spend a great deal of energy normalizing the data and getting it into a shape that’s easy to leverage. We love partnering around the data – whether it’s used to drive a website feature or analyze competitors, it’s awesome to get more mileage out of the data,” Alexander added.
John Levisay, the CEO of The Pro’s Closet, said, “We are very excited to be working with the 99 Spokes team. They are passionate and knowledgeable about the industry, have a savvy tech and data team, and have created a very useful dataset.”
