Trek buys Folsom Bike, a two-store California chain

FOLSOM, Calif. (BRAIN) — Folsom Bike owners Wilson and Erin Gorrell have announced they have sold their two stores to Trek Bicycle, effective Sept. 1.

"Thirteen years ago we opened a bike shop in the middle of a recession and everyone told us we would fail. But here we are 13 years later and we have done our best to become the favorite family bike shop serving the needs of our community and doing what it takes to make Folsom an incredible place to live and ride a bike. It has been an amazing journey and today marks the beginning of a new chapter," the store said in an announcement on its website this week.

"When thinking about finding the right partner to carry that legacy on for us, we wanted to work with people that shared our long-term vision, would provide incredible hospitality for our customers, and invest in making your local riding experience even better. Folsom has an amazing and growing cycling community, and we are confident Trek will continue to serve and support our communities in even bigger and better ways," the announcement continued.

The announcement said the shop will change its name to Trek Bicycle and that all current employees have been offered positions under the new ownership. It also said they expect Trek to continue to operate the cafe at the Folsom location.

The stores currently carry Trek, Electra, Niner, Cervelo, Giant, Liv, Momentum, Pinarello and Pivot.
