All REI stores to remain closed indefinitely

Published March 25, 2020

KENT, Wash. (BRAIN) — REI Co-op extended the closure of its 162 stores indefinitely because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After closing March 16, REI intended to reopen Friday.

A letter on REI’s website to customers originally published March 15 was updated late Tuesday to reflect the change “after a great deal of careful consideration,” said Eric Artz, president and CEO.

All REI employees will continue to be paid during the closure. All online orders from REI.com are eligible for free shipping, and customers with questions about gear can go to REI Conversations.
