LONGMONT, Colo. (BRAIN) — Retailers Rick and Jill Emerson, who own Bike-n-Hike in Longmont, are welcoming Colorado's spring season with open arms this year. As recipients of BRAIN's second Retail Remodel Project, the Emersons are already seeing positive results all around.
After more than a month in the remodeled store, they've already noticed an increase in apparel, accessory and shoe sales. As part of the remodel, new flooring was installed in part of the store and several walls were built to break up the space and improve traffic flow.
A dedicated women's department was also added alongside an expanded men's selection; bikes were split into categories and spread more evenly throughout the store.
And so far, Rick has been busy reordering product that is selling faster than ever.
"I've had to relearn how to do the buying," he said. "We've had to order just a ton of stuff, and have had a few turns already. We're able to outfit a new bike sale so much easier, and the women's section really works. It's amazing."
BRAIN teamed up once again with 3 Dots Design and Merchandising Werx, each headquartered in nearby Boulder, to execute the remodel. Giro and Bicycle Shop Kits sponsored the project, and Jett Digital provided photo and video coverage.
