PLEASANTON, CA (BRAIN) Thursday August 9 2012 11:14 AM MT—Mike’s Bikes recently opened the “jewel” of its now 11-store chain Aug. 3 with its newest shop in Pleasanton, California.

Located at 6754 Bernal Avenue, the Pleasanton Mike’s Bikes offers a variety of brands fit for every facet of cycling, perfect for the thriving bike community.

“Pleasanton is an area where there are a lot of serious cyclists,” said Matteo Ciccone, the store’s sales manager. “There are dirt jumpers, BMX riders, every kind of cyclist imaginable, and we want to service them all.”

Like its predecessors, the new location’s most prominent brands are Specialized and Wilier.

Plans for the new shop include integrating Mike’s into the community and working with local cycling teams. So far, business seems to be going smoothly. “It’s been great; we’ve had a lot of people coming through,” noted Ciccone.

Founded in 1964, Mike’s Bikes started out as a Schwinn shop in San Rafael, California. Under the current co-ownership of Matt Adams and Ken Martin, the chain has grown to include almost a dozen locations throughout Northern California.

With its plethora of locations and more in the works, one has to wonder what’s fueling the rapid growth of Mike’s Bikes. “Customer service,” said Ciccone without a moment’s hesitation. “We look to give the cyclists the ride of their life.”
