CHAPEL HILL, NC (BRAIN)—As a matter of policy, Performance Bicycle generally declines to comment on its business strategy.
In light of recent industry consolidation and some industry pundits' rhetoric, however, Performance feels it's important to make its intentions clear, according to a recently issued press release.
Performance has enjoyed and continues to enjoy a long and productive relationship with Cannondale. In fact, Cannondale was the first product line Performance carried when the retailer began in 1982. Performance currently carries select Cannondale clothing and accessories. Performance has also carried Cannondale bicycles in the past, but in 2004 Performance decided to no longer do so.
Performance is very pleased with its existing bicycle assortment and has no intention of approaching the Cannondale Sports Group about re-introducing the Cannondale bicycle brand, nor has the Cannondale Sports Group inquired about the retailer doing so.
Performance wishes its partners at Dorel Industries and the Cannondale Sports Group success in their future endeavors.
