WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — About 315 Tongyang Cycling Basecamp helmets are being recalled because they don't comply with mandatory safety standards.
Manufactured in China, these model HT-10 helmets lack impact attenuation, positional stability, and certification requirements. In addition, the helmets use a coin cell battery and lack a mandatory warning label warning about ingesting the battery.
No incidents nor injuries have been reported.
The helmets were sold in green and black and in size medium/large, fitting a head circumference of about 22.44 to 24.41 inches. They have red padding, black and red straps, a black and red buckle, and a black and red fit-adjustment knob. "Basecamp" is printed on the sides and "HT-10" on a label inside.
Consumers should stop using the helmets and contact Tongyang Cycling for a refund. The straps should be cut, and the helmet photographed with the image emailed to tongyangshangwuus@hotmail.com.
The helmets were sold online at Amazon from July 2024 through July 2026 for about $34.
