WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Ritchey Design is recalling about 775 carbon fiber forks because the alloy insert in the front crown can loosen, causing a rack or fender to detach and pose a crash hazard.
One incident was reported of the alloy insert loosening but no injuries were reported.
The forks were sold individually in black and with some Ritchey frames in either Montebello (hot sauce), Septimer (black and white), or Outback (aurora and winter sage) colors. The individual forks are labeled either WCS Carbon Mountain Adventure Fork, WCS Carbon Brevet Road Fork, WCS Carbon Adventure Gravel Fork, or WCS Carbon Tapered Adventure Gravel Fork. "Ritchey" also is printed on the fork.
Consumers should inspect the crown hole that has a rack, fender, or any other attached accessory and register to receive a free Ritchey Fork Crown Hole Closure Kit with instructions. All carbon forks with a crown mounting hole are included in the recall.
The forks and frames were sold at Performance Bike in Chico, California; Adrenaline Bikes in Orange, California; Excel Sports Boulder in Boulder, Colorado; and other bicycle retailers nationwide and online, including ritcheylogic.com from July 2024 through June 2026 for between $660 and $700 for the individual carbon fork and between $1,760 and $3,500 for frames with carbon forks.
