Küat recalls Transfer v2 bike carriers

Published June 10, 2024

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (BRAIN) — Kuat Innovations is recalling its Kuat Transfer v2 1-bike (T201B), Kuat Transfer v2 2-bike (T202B, T222B), and Kuat Transfer v2 3-bike (T223B) bicycle carriers.

The affected Kuat Transfer v2 1-bike, Kuat Transfer v2 2-bike, and Kuat Transfer v2 3-bike carriers are models manufactured between October 2020 and June 2024 and contain a Batch ID from 2045 through 2414.

Kuat said it has determined that when the bike carrier is in use, the pivot cam can become disengaged, allowing the bike carrier to drop into the lower position. This may cause damage to the bike carrier, which may result in release of the bike from the carrier while the car is in motion.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Kuat Innovations to arrange for a replacement pivot pedal assembly, free of charge. Kuat Innovations will be communicating directly with all known product owners.

Customers with these affected bike carriers should confirm whether their bike carrier falls within the recalled population according to the instructions on the Kuat website at www.kuat.com/recalls. If their carrier is affected by the recall they can submit their information on that page to arrange a replacement pivot pedal assembly.

According to a National Highway Safety Administration report, the recall affects more than 86,000 racks.
