Flat River Group recalls kids' bikes for failure to meet US safety standards

Published February 1, 2024

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Flat River Group kids' bikes are being recalled because they don't meet several U.S. safety standards.

The HolaBelle NextGen 10-inch, 12-inch, and 16-inch bicycles are equipped with hand brakes but no foot brakes. The 20-inch models are not equipped with a chain guard, and the pedals do not come with reflectors. About 22,700 bikes are affected.

Federal regulations require bicycles with seat heights that measure at or below 25 inches to be equipped with foot brakes and require a full-coverage chain guard. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

Consumers should contact Flat River Group for a full refund toll free at 833-857-1010, or online at www.Flatrivergroup.com/nextgen-recall/.

The bikes were sold in black, blue, red, purple and pink. The NextGen logo is printed across either the toptube or downtube. They were sold online at Army & Air Force Exchange Service, Amazon, Fingerhut, Groupon, HSN, Kohls, Lowe's, Macy's, Overstock, QVC, Target, Tractor Supply and Walmart from October 2020 through November 2022 for between $80 and $135.
