Swift Industries recalls rubber straps used on Swift Bicycle Bags

Published October 6, 2022

SEATTLE (BRAIN) — Swift Industries is recalling about 1,800 rubber straps that were sold with some of its bike bags and separately this year. The company has received 129 reports of the straps breaking.

The recall involves 9-inch straps included with the Swift Zeitgeist Pack, Catalyst Pack, the Kestrel Handlebar Bag, the Bandito Bicycle Bag, the Handlebar Foam Spacer Kits, or sold separately. The black rubber straps have a fox graphic stamped near the buckle.

The company said the straps can break causing the bag to come loose and fall, posing crash hazard and injury hazards to the rider. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers are being told to stop using the straps and discard them, then contact Swift Industries for a replacement. They can contact Swift Industries collect at 206-397-8638 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, email recall@builtbyswift.com or of online at builtbyswift.com/voluntary-recall. Swift is also contacting all known purchasers.

The straps and bags were sold at Recreation Equipment Coop and EVO sporting goods stores, various bicycle shops and other stores nationwide and online at builtbyswift.com, www.rei.com, www.huckberry.com and www.evo.com from March through July 2022 for between $5 and $10 when sold individually, or between $100 and $200 when sold as part of a Swift bicycle bag.
