VP Components recalls Harrier and Giant Pinner DH pedals

Published April 2, 2020

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — VP Components is recalling its Harrier and Giant Pinner DH bicycle pedals because of concerns the body can separate from the spindle, posing a rider fall and injury hazard.

The pedals are red, silver, or black in color with Harrier or Giant printed on the pedal body.

VP Components received 79 reports of broken spindles and one report of a rider injured in a fall after the spindle of a Giant Pinner DH pedal separated from the body.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends consumers immediately stop using the pedals and contact the bike shop or online retailer where the pedals were originally purchased to arrange for a free replacement pair.

The pedals were sold at bicycle stores nationwide and online at various websites from about May 2017 through December 2017 for between $113 and $116 each.
