Mavic Gives Update on Wheel Recall

Published January 24, 2009

HAVERHILL, MA (BRAIN)—Mavic wanted to give Bicycle Retailer & Industry News readers an update pertaining to the recent CPSC recall of Mavic's R-sys front wheels.

According to Mavic marketing director Sean Sullivan, the "immediate action plan" for U.S. dealers has been approved by the CPSC, as dealers are now able to return wheels, getting a pair of Askiums as interim wheels.

"They were not able to do this for the past two weeks," Sullivan said. "So as you can guess this was causing confusion with our retailers."

The recall packet is now shipping via regular U.S. mail out to all Mavic retailers as well. Dealers can call customer service at (888)-466-2842 to get more info, or have an electronic version of the packet emailed to them and to get the returns underway.
