Fox, CamelBak sales grow over first quarter

Published May 9, 2012

WATSONVILLE, CA (BRAIN)—Fox’s first-quarter sales totaled $45.7 million, up 6.5 percent from $42.9 million in the same quarter last year.

CamelBak sales hit $40.2 million in first quarter, up 23 percent from $32.6 million last year, according to Compass Diversified Holdings, which purchased CamelBak in August 2011 and has owned Fox since January 2008.

Fox’s sales into Europe and Asia are fairly evenly split. Fox’s sales into Taiwan fell to $6.3 million during the quarter from $8.6 million a year earlier, and this may reflect the changing manufacturing timeline. Sales into Germany increased to $9.9 million from $7.8 million. Fox's sales are typically highest in the third quarter, coinciding with the delivery of product for the new bike year.

Aftermarket sales are a shrinking component of Fox’s business, falling from 24 percent of overall sales in 2009 to 20 percent this year.
